Degree Structure

BATS And CATS

BATS - also known as the Beginners and Applied Tertiary Studies degree – is the basic degree offered at Wydan University. For full-time students, BATS generally last three years, and encompass three levels of education, from beginners, to intermediate, and finally, advanced.

CATS. - also known as the Continued and Advanced Tertiary Studies degree – is a degree which allows students to continue to add to the knowledge gained as a BATS students. Also deemed an ‘honours’ degree, CATS. recipients have proven themselves to be at a higher level than those who completed their BATS degree.

POINTS SYSTEM

For all students, regardless of their degree, are subject to the Points System. That is, in order to complete a degree, they must have accumulated a specific number of points. Each course, regardless of its level, is worth 1 point, and to complete a B.A.T.S. Degree, a student must have accumulated a total of 36 points – that is, they have taken (and passed!) 36 courses.

The limitation to the 36 point system is that there is a maxium amount of points one can take at 100 (beginner) level, and a minimum number of points to be taken at 300 (advanced) level.

What this means is that, in order to complete a B.A.T.S degree, a student must have passed 36 courses which fit within the limitations featured above.

Please note that each major has its own specifics with regards to how many courses at each level must be passed within its own discipline in order to count towards a degree. Please contact the Head of Department for your intended major to learn more.
